No one will ever go on a run like Saban. That's why he's the best HC in college football history. We'll return to normalcy now, which is going to be strange for a lot of you who grew up with Saban as the normal.

WTF?

He just replaced the ENTIRE DEFENSIVE coaching staff, did you expect him to fire & replace his whole defensive staff mid season?

No, but he needed to demote, promote, kick-arse, stick his nose into a problem, use different players, use different schemes, not let Perkins pass rush talents go to waste, teach the correct technique to DBs, etc.
Our defense actually got worse during the course of season. The responsibility lies with only one person.

Kirby and Deboar.

I’ll give you Kirby but do you really think DeBoer is going to walk in and start dominating the SEC?

I agree DeBoer will need to acclimate. Texas and OK as well. 24 will be an interesting season.

Yeah, the main one, he hasn't shown yet in his career that he can recruit at the level Saban can. I'm not talking one year. I'm talking 5 to 10 straight seasons in the top 3 in recruiting.

I suppose he thinks, Woodward spending tons of someone else's money, can finally boost him to the top.

I would add to this that he is to slow to address problems, like our stinky defense and our special teams last year.

I would say that he didn’t make the in-season changes that the fans wanted him to make. He did, however, make the off-season changes that are needed to address the weaknesses and set the team on the right course for the future. He is building for the long term and is doing it with a very specific intention. The coaches he is bringing in have Louisiana roots and connections. They fit together well. They know the state. They develop talent and they can recruit with the best. You can chase immediate returns or you can build for years of success. The fans want instant gratification but would be well served to give up the sugar high and have a longer term vision.

Conversely how many championships did LSU keep Saban out of?

The SEC, especially with Texas here now, will be in a power struggle up top with Texas and Bama. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Would the SEC give LSU the type of help needed to go on a "run" like Bama? Not no, but hell no. It is almost as if many of you here pay no attention at all to how things work in this corrupt conference.

Exactly, they obviously haven’t been paying attention. The SEC always gave Saban the advantage with BS calls in critical games, favorable scheduling, etc.
LSU would never be allowed to be so dominant. And, it will be much harder with NIL, Texas, 12 game playoff.

I would be thrilled with a playoff berth most years and a natty every 5-7 years, which itself will be difficult

He might have an easier path to the college football playoff (12 teams) but regardless of what people say, Texas & Oklahoma are going to be tough opponents for all. It’s not like we added Va. & NC St. As much as we love to diss on them they’re blue bloods in the College Ranks.

I think he absolutely can go on a run of that magnitude, as long as he has the same support from the university that he had this off-season.

The nega-tigers and Saban dick riders will try to convince you its impossible because they are projecting their own inadequacy onto Kelly, but as long as he continues to have success, the university will continue to give him their support, and with that support the sky is the limit.
