That’s an interesting thread to say the least but I’ll emphasize that ammo selection being ultra critical part. They are really holding up the 77gr TMK with a 223/556 just being the vessel, but there’s a lot of other selling points to the chambering. Reading between the lines it sounds like sierra developed that bullet mostly for aloha snackbar hunting and it’s not a traditional target bullet at all.

Yea, I think thats the prevailing idea out there.

I'm not going to go out advocating a .223 to anyone because of that. I dont think there's a factory loaded 77gr tmk available on the shelf anymore. They do like some other flavors of heavy .22 bullet as well, I think hornady ELDM is popular and widely available. I do think I'd prefer a .223 with heavy bullets to a .300BO though if I had to be using one of the two.
