Damn I lived there from 95-99. My favorite mountain in the world. A guy is started with as a lowly ticket taker is still there, VP of something. Bet he's having a long day.
I've been caught in an avalanche. Not completely buried, arms and head were free. Do not recommend
ETA - seeing they had wind gusts of 155 mph. Someone might lose their job for that, that lift shouldn't have been spinning. Squaw is notorious for shutting down for "Wind Hold", there's even stickers that joke about it. Seems like a bad call

Probably under pressure to get people on the mountain. Hasn't the snow been late/light this year in the Sierras?
