As a general rule if it’s someone you work with everyday and texting like that is normal, go ahead and text.

When I get work related emails or texts from people outside the office between like 11 pm and 4 am, I tend to think they’re not quite right at the time. They’re either angry, freaking out, or drunk.

If it’s a true emergency, all etiquette is out the window.

There’s two people I work with that work off hours and send emails whenever the thought is in their heads so they don’t forget, so I know it’s not asap unless stated. The rest don’t send emails on off hours 9/10.
I/We rarely text so that would feel like an emergency if it happened.
