Right now, the money folks are stuck. They give X amount of dollars. The part the AD’s don’t like. If they are giving to NIL, they are taking that money away from the athletic department. They are still giving the same total amount, just that some of it is going to NIL. More Athletic Departments around the US are going into the red. LSU has been very fortunate, they have managed well.
Well, getting payers paid was always going to be a zero-sum game. The money has to come from somewhere.
I‘m just laughing at the fact anyone believes the answer will be $20/month subscriptions from John Smiths & not the billions of dollars of revenue shared between TV / athletic departments / coaches.
Title IX & NIL together should put away any hope for above-board CFB. Either it will continue run on black markets just as it always did before… or the donation supply ultimately fails to support the sport & the academic institutions are eventually cut out to make room for revenue sharing, which makes the most sense.
Actual collegiate sports already caught the bullet, just gonna take it a while to bleed out.
