MOST of the HS kids didn't go with most NIL money. Most left tens of thousands on the table. Development and dream school were top reasons. Only one kid they interviewed said he went with most money.
A program that utilizes NIL effectively has coordination between the school program, the coaches, and the managers of the collective funds.
There are some situations where coaches don’t do a good job of evaluating talent and or character so they get players who are bad character, or talent and no one wants the player representing for them.
There are situations where the manager of the collective is interested in baseball and doesn’t give a damn about football.
With this new landscape, being a coach is a huge undertaking. They’re fighting for money from a collective representing the same school!
Then there’s the allocation of funds.
Take football for instance; if the money isn’t spread around to supporting cast, it’s not going to work. QB, RB and to some extent receivers are going to benefit from a solid OL. If it were my decision, I’d be paying the OL more than other schools. Same for DL. Get some solid talent up front and the DB’s benefit.
The manager of a collective is sort of like a general manager for a professional team but they have to oversea all sports…
Very convoluted.
