They told you how to handle it. Call 911. These readi-med places aren’t hospitals and aren’t designed to handle situations that require hospitals. If you were so short of breath you should have driven yourself to a hospital and not a walk in.

Two years ago I cut my hand wide open with a router and the closest thing to me was an emergency clinic. They turned me away and told me to go to the ER because they couldn't help me. They are allowed to do that. I too chose to drive instead of calling 911. Perhaps it was dangerous as I was light-headed and one-handed but I managed. If I had wrecked it would have been my fault for choosing not to get an ambulance.
It's a shame people like you don't take responsibility for their actions anymore. Be a man for once in your life.
