Honestly, have we see a defensive output like last night when Zion is on the floor? I can't remember one.

This narrative really needs to die

Is Zion an elite defender? No

Was Zion really bad defesively towards the start of the year? Yes

Have the Pelicans had a top 3 defense over the past 25 games with Zion playing? Yes

Zion’s defense in current form is just not the issue people make it out to be. Just needs to stay healthy

Jarrett Allen is not a 0 offensively. Shel is absolutely right about that

I just don’t think if we’re in a mindset where we are keeping Zion regardless (which at this juncture I think we probably should) that we should be trading for a center who has no threat from the 3 point line

I don’t even mean like he’s a bad shooter, I mean Jarrett Allen has 0 3P attempts for the whole season

I just don’t see that being a good move

There’s a reason that Larry has been working so hard on his 3PT shot and JV as well. 3pt spacing is the entire plan for a Zion team, and it should be

As far as our window and contention, I still think we have a lot more to show. I don’t think Trey is even close to 100% yet, probably like 70%, and we’ve only seen like 80% Zion

Ideally the plan for the future is that Trey continues to get stronger and put on muscle (he’s got the frame for it) and work a lot on his rebounding and he is the center of the future, and then you build around Trey and Zion

But for this season I really don’t see a good move
