re: ‘Reacher’ Season 2 Is Now Officially One Of The Worst Shows On TV (Spoilers)

Season 1 was really good. Season 2 was enjoyable, but had a lot of problems. I think it was the writing. It feels like one of those situations were they had a script, and then brought in another writer to "punch up" the script. In the process, they ended up screwing it up. Repeating the same phrases over and over again, multiple times in the same episode. The dialogue that is okay at times but then terrible at times. A lot of other little things that I attribute to bad writing.

Season 1 was definitely a lot better, but this season was still better a lot of stuff that Apple or Amazon push over and over to watch.
I have never read a Reacher book and don’t know if out of character or not, but keeping the millions kind of bothered me. Some of at least went to the murder victims family and an animal shelter, but outside of maybe the care of the ill & elderly father the rest divided up between them seemed wrong.
The Homeland agent gave up on the money question too easily almost like he was getting a share as well.
I also had a problem with Reacher taking the dealer’s cash to pay back his debt to Neagley (I think it was from a dealer again). Taking the drug dealer’s cash to fund buying needed supplies was one thing, but some of his debt to her was for personal spending. They should just made it all go towards some “mission” expense we saw her cover with her own money.

I thought it was great. Enjoyed every episode.

Season 2 has been such a disappointment, actual cringe.

It’s cliche’, cheesy and unrealistic.
Loved it.

I guess I’m the outlier here but I really enjoyed S2. I thought S1 was good but somewhat constrained and kind of odd with the international counterfeiting ring based in rural GA.
S2 has him reuniting with some of his old teammates, back stories and a lot of ham fisted kick arse. I’ve been loving it so far. I’m as critical as the next guy about the “strong female character” intervention but didn’t feel that at all in this. Everyone was smart, competent and played well together. And it’s not like Reacher has been demasculated or took a back seat at all in this.
I hope this cast stays together because this is an excellent series. Ritchson is perfect for the role and if he doesn’t roid out on his workouts could carry this for a long time.

I just did a rewatch a last week. This time around I watched Season 1 and 2 back to back and Season 2 came off a lot better to me. When Season 2 first dropped it had been a year since seeing the first season and it was much fresher and not as jarring. A lot of the gripes I had the first time around didn't bother me as much. Just me.

While Reacher 2's plot had a bunch of holes in it i still enjoyed. To say it is one of the worst shows is laughable. Not sure if a season 3 could be made unless they get a better storyline.

I just finished it. It was good, no way near as good as season 1. It did get old hearing “you don’t mess with the special investigators” and “Neagly have I told you you are smart” over and over.

Finished it the other night. Like others have said, ok, good tv but not nearly as good as S1. I got done with it and felt unfulfilled and realized I felt that way the entire season. It felt like they were doing all they good to fill quotas for award nominations. Also felt like the last Bond film, where they needed a quota character that the hero needs to succeed rather than the hero character being the hero he's supposed to be. Hope they do a S3 and get rid of the nonsense.

I enjoyed it for what it was but wanted to bump this thread for another reason. Took me until S2E4 when they brough back Finley to see it, but I laughed when I made the connection.
Guess when they do Season 3, Reacher will need to work with Simpson, Alonso, and/or Nevin.

I didn’t watch any episodes after the one where they shot the police officer. I just lost interest.
