I really wish we could retire this nonsense.

Is it true that a 3* can develop into a superstar? Yes, that’s very true.

Is it also true that 4* “hit” at a much higher rate than 3*, and 5* hit at a much higher rate than 4*? Yes, that’s also very true (demonstrably so).

The bottom line is that scouting and development of lower-ranked guys is a huge part of the equation, and always will be - but so is landing highly ranked guys. There’s a reason why no team in the modern recruiting-rankings era has ever won a championship without a roster comprising >50% 4 and 5* guys.

You just repeated exactly what I said. I said we always recruit and land enough of all star rated players. We also cherry pick our 5*/4*/3* players. Its players we’ve watched, we’ve talked to, we’ve seen up close, we’ve seen grow and just have a better idea of who they will be.

I completely understand that we need all of these guys we get. But I also understand that our cherry picked players, no matter what star they were, have just as good of a chance to be a star at LSU. We not going after the same players that Vandy/Marshall/Miss Valley etc.
