I didn’t say we wouldn’t pay for someone like Perkins. We just are clearly more cautious with ours than others. We have zero issue getting guys NIL once here and produce. That isn’t how bama UGA ole miss and aggy are operating. We are very good in the area of how NIL was suppose to work. I also get why BK might not want to play NIL like Lane is doing. He wants to build a certain way and he had to clean out a lot of program rot caused by O. It would be nice if our collective had more in it.

Why is it that people think that paying players didn’t exist before NIL? Every major SEC school pays for play today and 15 years ago.

Under Scotty we are just more cautious about who we pay before they produce.

The fact that this kind of shite gets continually posted here is concerning.

Yes, players got paid before NIL. But it was not even in the same universe. There are now publicly traded companies, well-known alumni, etc., who would have never even considered giving players money, that are giving 6-figures in NIL.

That kind of shite NEVER happened before. Not even close.

Getting 5k and a car happened. Getting a bullshite job happened. The idea that players were regularly getting 6-figures of cash is ridiculous. The IRS would have gotten involved.

There were certainly rumors of elite players like Cam Newton and Zion Williamson getting paid big and maybe there was the occasional anomaly, but anything other than a car and maybe some spending money was extremely rare.
