Auburn interviewed Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley for its vacant head coaching job Monday, said someone familiar with the interview. Dooley is the son of former coach Vince Dooley, who is a legend at Georgia, and who happens to be an Auburn alum.

I think La. Tech Coach/AD Dooley has done a remarkable job in Ruston.

A winning season/bowl appearance and a good looking '09 recruiting class.

Dooley is obviously an up-and-comer, but isn't that what some Auburn fans want?

If Auburn people think Gill or someone like Dooley will win more games than Tuberville, they are sorely mistaken. I believe it's kinda funny that they are interviewing Dooley.

No way on green earth they thought Dooley would be in the mix before they fired Tuberville.

I know he's a grown man but does Auburn not realize that his mother Barbra Dooley is best friends with the Saban's and they lake houses next door to each other? That would be interesting.

What does that have to do with him coaching at Auburn? He doesn't want to hurt his mom's friend's feelings because he's coaching / recruiting against her husband????

Don't think that would be a factor at all....

dooley would be an very good choice IMO. the guy was sabans recruiting coordinador at LSU and his dad was a ledgend HC at georgia. he has been groomed for an SEC HC job. not to mention the guy has a law degree and is doing a good job at la tech.

We sure had a lot of punts blocked when he was special teams coach here.Everyone complains about punt ugly, but Nick had two blocked in his last bowl game, one in the national championship, and one in a loss to Ole Miss at home.

It was just a “courtesy” interview…just like Auburn interviewing Pat Nix and Rodney Garner are “courtesy” interviews….
