So Life Aquatic might as well be swimming with the fishes since he missed the entire point of my post. Open your eyes and realize the very obvious similarities of NCAA Sports to the NFL and other professional sports. As it evolves and continues to go down its present path, a Players Union would certainly be the next logical step including salary caps, collective bargaining, input into rules, regulations, etc. Since its inception, NIL and the portal have started the ball rolling toward that inevitability. My reference to the “next greedy level” is directed to opportunists in the form of corrupt player agents, bad contracts, and free agency moving us further and further away from amateur sports and closer and closer to the professional level. If that’s what you want, then that’s what you’re going to get being the “capitalist” that you are. I’m not against these young student athletes making money in exchange for their talents but where does it end and how can it be regulated to benefit all college sports and reward players of lesser talent who are arguably the loyal foundation of a team. Remember “team sport” or is that not a concept you can comprehend? One thing is for sure, more change is coming. The less it is is controlled by a union or something similar, the more it will be like viewing two Sundays back to back. If that’s the change aqua-man (or woman) is supporting then amateur college sports will be a fading remnant of its former self. I can still be a capitalist(which I am) and tune it out if it becomes another USFL. Watch what you wish for in water world.
