Your statement is too generalized. Louisiana has some of the cheapest average property values in the country, and a house that’s situated in the boonies has no business being priced that high. And if someone is stupid enough to pay that much for a house that has little to no amenities, then that’s one less person moving to a state like Florida where you actually have amenities that justify the housing prices.
Outside of New Orleans, there isn’t a single damn home in LA that’s worth 525k. And even New Orleans is still a crime ridden shithole with a completely inept police department

You need to pull back from the ignorance. The houses in Louisiana may not be worth it to you, but there are thousands of homes sold each year over half a million dollars so your statement is demonstrably false.
There aren’t many places in Louisiana I’d enjoy living but there are a few and Squire Creek in Choudrant would be one.

I was project manager recently over two houses that sold for $1.2m and another that sold for $750k. All three were in Lafayette. My best friend built a house in Lake Charles for a doctor that cost over $2m. So you once again don’t know what you’re talking about.
