Can't really judge until after bowl season, the full portal window, late national signing day, and the NFL season. It's obvious Kelly doesn't rush on this stuff.

Retention

I get this

But they are still 1 corner short on experience and reliability

I like what safety can be with Gilbert then Toviano or Kylin at SS. Yaites and the upside of McBryde.

But corner you have freshmen that were unimpressive in just physical ability, JK Johnson coming off a season ending injury. Sage who is not really a corner.

I’m assuming Zy’s injury was an ACL tho I never saw confirmation?

I’m not comfortable at all with the CB room

I can get on board with retention at every other spot, even if it means Greg Penn starting again. But they need an experienced corner.

Well, BK can't insist on playing Omar Speights because of his vast experience.

Lots of defensive back talent in the recruiting class. Couple of injured portal guys getting healthy. Retain the DTs and add the one guy.

4 really promising line backers.

Much improved talent level

Having Smith & Wingo back can't hurt, with Guillory, who I think is a good player. I think Penn is a good player and I'm expecting improvement in everyone that's back... Coaching? That's just speculation right now so I won't comment. I trust BK, this is his program, his reputation, etc.

They won’t be doing the same things. We will have a D-line coach this year. Experience in the program does matter. I mean look at the offense from last year versus the offense of this year. We have upgraded our talent without bringing in OPP. We’re in much better shape going into 2024.

A lot could happen quickly if Wisconsin puts up 31 points and 350+ yards on us.

CBK badly wants that 10th win. If it doesn’t happen, all hell could break loose on the Ponderosa.

Putting up a 100 plus ranked d and making no staff changes reeks of coasting on a major contract I don’t think we see no changes
