It will be interesting to see what happens with a 12 team playoff and the first round games being held on campus. You gotta figure that will kill off a lot of minor bowls

The top 4 seeds will whine about not getting a home game and missing out on that revenue for the school and local economy that seeds 5-8 get, and that the top 4 should get to host the 2nd round. They'll either get their way or they'll further expand to 16 with the entire top 8 getting home games in the first round

Man, I can see that happening. You are liable to have a knife fight between Georgia and the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
I like the idea of bowl matchups being held in week 1 the next season. So LSU kicks off the 2024 season in Tampa against Wisconsin, Alabama plays Michigan in the Rose Bowl, etc. (I also don't understand why college football teams schedule non-conference games a decade out, while basketball, baseball, etc is never really more than a year in advance.)

Every playoff game but the championship game should be on-campus. It’s like we see a very successful model the NFL has, and say, no, let’s put them at bland neutral sites and make people travel all over the country with little notice

It’s a fair argument on their part and I agree. No need for some teams to play in THREE bowl games in a season. Just do the first two rounds at home of higher seed, then the final 4 is exactly the same as now and it’s perfect.

Really haven’t given a care about the minor bowls in many years as there are way too many. The playoffs though will be exciting and fun.
