ND hasn’t won a championship this millennium. I don’t think the narrative is unfair

His hometown is about two hours from Notre Dame.

Definitely agree. My success reference was to his position or positions he was coaching. The defense definitely was subpar with Brian Van Gorder at the helm calling plays. LSU's overall success despite the H2H record versus Notre Dame in bowl games that didn't matter (2014/2018 who cares about a music city bowl?) can't even be compared in the last 30 years. LSU has been better than ND as a program over the last 30 years. Anyone who tries to polish that turd to a different tune is only fooling themselves.

Maybe he wanted to go somewhere where they had a defense. And he knew that Kelly was not going to fire house

Wow, what dynamics played a part in this decision? Cant imagine it’s a better gig. Is there some behind the scenes stuff that we may not be aware of.

Hope he does well. Sucks it’s this late in the game. Hopefully his relationship with Kelly caused him to give Kelly a heads up. If so, and I think it’s likely Kelly knew this was a possibility, Kelly already had a short list of guys he can likely get.

And it may be Sloan after all.

And next season people will calling for the new OC to be fired week one or two regardless of who it is. I think next season is going to be rough regardless.

It’s possible that NIL has changed that equation. ND has a rich alumni base.

I doubt you miss much. LSU's offensive success was not because of his play calling. If anything, he screwed up quite a few times in play calling given the talent he had.

I wish that hadn't happened but I understand the desire to be close to family. This is his third stint with ND, so whatever is going on there is obviously important to him. I wish him well.

Notre Dame has always recruited at this level, the difference is the ability to pull in top flight skill position players and get the speed common to Southern US football recruits.

It's tough to pull in speed like most top SEC programs pull.

Guys like Justin Jefferson and Jamarr Chase never go to a school like Notre Dame.

Malik Nabers and BTJ either.

Because of Talent, got these OCs thinking they’re #1 until they find out on the new job afterwards

Denbrock may be good or even great BUT when you have a Quarterback like Daniels who can turn any call into a touchdown with his legs and arm, & improvisation then how much credit does the coordinator get.

Ie. Cam Newton. This guy made every coach at auburn look like a master mind.
