30 year old here, basically debt free aside from mortgage. Bought my house in late 2020 at the peak of the low interest rates, even if it cost me my entire savings at the time. Best decision I ever made.
I credit a lot of my situation to deciding to go to Nicholls over LSU and graduating with no student loans. It was a more boring college experience, but I ended up with the same job as a lot of LSU grads. Starting out life behind the 8 ball is unfortunately why so many of my friends are still renting.
I don’t come from money either, grew up in a single income household. My dad was a welder. Just gotta take life very seriously a lot sooner than most are willing to.
