Your 1/48 reminds me when I was still hand painting. Tons of brush strokes. Too much paint.
This 1/72 Jo Han Kit I built about five years ago has all the same jacked up brush strokes as yours.

Here is my Tamiya. Excuse the pic quality (my son sent it to me since I’m at work) but I’ll take more later. This one is about 10 yrs old. Airbrushed with Model Master enamels. It resides in his room now. Done as Ira Kepford’s bird.,
