My favorite part about The Janitor is that for the longest time, he was conceptually supposed to only exist in JD’s head. So, the episode where you finally see him interacting with Elliot and other people is really funny, especially given JD seemed to believe The Janitor was just in his imagination too. So, The Janitor was a hallucination that turned into a real person with agency, and then the whole episode is basically the hospital gaslighting him until JD accepts that the Janitor has been real this entire time. Absolute genius up there with South Park retconning Token as Tolkein.
