Miles/DC 2008 = Saban OC 2007?

Does anyone else think the situations are similar, as as far as how to get rid of an underperforming coach/s?
Last year Major Applewhite was the OC at Alabama when they went 6-6 during the season. In mid-January he suddenly leaves the OC position at Alabama for a lessor position of Asst. Coach/running back coach at Texas.
At this time last year there were plenty of unhappy Alabama fans and many blamed Applewhite and wanted him gone. It could be said that Saban went through the same situation as Miles is going through right now. Realizing he made a mistake by hiring such a young inexperienced OC in Applewhite, Saban encouraged him to move on. He ended up at Texas with essentially a demotion but with a fancy "Asst. coach" title. Saban gets a a do-over and hires someone with more experience.
It might seemed far fetched, but if you go back and study the feelings of Alabama fans and the non-lateral career move of Applewhite, it does somewhat make sense.
Now we have the situation with Miles and his DCs. Let them find new jobs and Miles announce a new DC after the bowl. It works out good for everyone.
This is, of course, all speculation. But, it's no more speculation then all the other assumptions permeating the Rant today.

It's ashame I have to compare Miles' situation to Sabans' situation to make a point, but that may be the only way to get through to some of these bashers that all is not lost (i.e. Miles is doing what Saban did last year).

bullshite.
the almighty saban would never have waited until after the bowl game to make such a change.
in fact the mere fact that you claim he lost 6 games last year should render your entire post worthless.

I can't tell if you are joking or not. I will just assume you are. Made me laugh.

So...should Miles not emulate the almighty Saban in hiring practices?

Hmmm...maybe it should be the other way around. How many of Saban's assistants are head coaches now? How many of Miles' assistants are? I am not 100% sure, but I count Pelini and wasn't Gundy an assistanct with Miles? I can't think of any for Saban. You?

This is a good thread. Which was the worse hire, Malvetto or Applewhite?
