Rob Lowe tells an interesting story about Tom Cruise.
In The Outsiders, Cruise was pretty dopey looking and had a relatively small part. Not a major player at all and pretty far down on the teen star pecking order.
Anyway, when the cast was in New York for some pre-production shite or some sort of filming, all the guys had to share a room, at I think the Ritz-Carlton.
Well Cruise and Lowe were supposed to be roomies. The way Lowe tells it (who was much better looking and on a faster track). Cruise threw a fricking tantrum, believing he shouldn't have to have a roommate at all. Apparently, even then he believed he was the shite.
Now keep in mind, at that time Tom Cruise was essentially a goofy looking bit player in that movie and a complete unknown. Strange though that even then, the guy had supreme confidence in himself and believed he was going to be the biggest star out of all of them.

quote:He was in Endless Love with Brooke Shields, had a small but definitely memorable part in Taps, and was the male lead in the seriously underrated 80's classic Losin' It. He was also in the middle of making Risky Business and All the Right Moves, which were also released that year.

He was pretty well known, and after 1983, he was bigger than Lowe. Still kind of a dick move, though.
