Looking at the past 4 years...

The thing that really sticks out is that we won the games that we were supposed to win. In fact, we have only lost two games over Miles tenure where we clearly had the better team and should have posted a W. Those would be Ole Miss and Arkansas...this year. Miles also has won more "toss-up" games where the margin was negative or within 3 pts. He also has a several "quality" wins where the result was probably better than expected. 2005 was probably a push as with the only possible exception being UT. It was a good year! In 2006 we had quality wins over #5 Arkansas and a nice win over ND. It was a great year! We could argue for better but that might be unrealistic. Many fans would trade that year. In 2007, we probably shouldn't have lost to both UK and Ark but we won the MNC. It was a great year!
Until this year, Miles has won everything that we "realistically" could have expected. He made a bad hiring decision in Jan/08 and he needs to fix it. I think the glass is more than half full. Who doesn't believe that Miles is as competitive a man as any of his peers? That and 3.75m will hopefully motivate him to make the right decisions.

UK and Arky LAST season were unrealistic for us to win?

I wouldn't say unrealistic for an individual game but we did win the MNC on the season. You would have to call that better than a push. Would you trade one of those for winning the crystal?

First, I am a huge Miles "guy". I appreciate him and expect he will make needed changes to be back on top.
I just think it is a little disingenuous to say he hasn't lost to any team we should have beaten.
That does not make him a bad coach. Its tough to win in the SEC.
I support miles completely

My point is...when looking at the 4 complete seasons, its very easy to judge Miles' success on an individual season. Until this year, he USUALLY won the games that he should have won. He had more quality wins than bad losses. Just trying to be positive!

Oh, I agree with you. Hard to read context in these posts, but I was not being critical of your post at all.

Ole Miss was clearly better than us this year

quote:WRONG. How about 2005 vs. Tennessee (they had a losing record that year). You don't think we "were better and should posted the W"? How about last year v. Arkansas. Hello, we were #1 team, AT HOME, against UNRANKED Arkansas. You don't think we "had the better team and should have posted a W"? You can also add Kentuck last year. Again, we were #1, clearly a better team, and should have won. Your post even admits "we probably shouldn't have lost to both UK and Ark."

quote:You already admitted we shouldn't have lost to UK and Ark last year. So you think we shouldn't "realistically" expect to beat a UT team w/ losing record in 05, a UGA team that we were double digit favorites over in 05, and an unranked Arkansas last year.
Until this year, Miles has won everything that we "realistically" could have expected
Your post in fricking retarded.

Better coached... but not better athletes. We can't lower our expectations due to poor coaching. We should expect to beat OM. When they have better talent, I will change my opinion.

if someone beats you in every phase of the game, they are better. Who cares who's got more talent and who's better coached? If they show up, and you don't, they are better.

Why do you have to make a personal attack? You don't even know me and I assure you that I am not retarded. Does it make you feel good? Would you say that to me in person?(I seriously doubt it) I'm simply stating that you can't pick one game when looking at a season. If you want to list every games over the past 4 years and put them in a "good win" or "bad loss" column. Miles has done reasonably well.

Yeah, that hurricane thingy had nothing to do with that game. 20 people sleeping in players' apartments, the PMAC full of sick people and our guys volunteering, many of their families having lost not only homes but everything they had, maybe not even knowing where extended family were, not knowing what their families were going to do now, perhaps, just maybe possibly, that was a foreseeable and excusable loss.

Wow yall will not let that game go. We still went to the SEC championship game...in the end it didn't really mean anything. We still have lost that game, even if we had been undefeated.
