I went to a small town louisiana public. There was the occasional fight but it wasnt anything major. I work at a large metro public school (1600 students) now. I know its not a 1 to 1 comparison but this shite is nuts. Shits gotten so much worse since covid. Kids dont care about anything. Grades, respecting adults, following rules, none of it. Our district admin unfortunately doesnt value enforcing punishments so small things go unchecked until it grows into big things.

We're in the same boat. We were punishing kids left and right, but the district said we were over-punishing our kids, and now it's not worth writing up students as they won't get much of a punishment. The district cares more about that data than they do anything else.
