Whoever said you could tell MM wasn't going to make it here after seeing his first press conference was spot on. MM feels very fortunate to have this job as opposed to WW who believed he deserved this job. McMahon consistently says it's an honor to step on that court, suit up in the purple and gold and represent the state. Well yea dude it is, but when you consistently spew that stuff it tells me that you don't have a clue about what is most important. It's a bad hire, it's an even worse contract and it doesn't help that the guy 2.5 hours to the west has managed to build a team in year 1 that is likely going to win his conference.

I didn’t need to see the press conference because I had watched his teams since Morant was on them. There was nothing he did as a coach that suggested he’d succeed at this level.

I don't think that is completely true. His best season, by far, was after Morant left

This was my comment in the press conf. thread:

I don't care if McMahon ever gives another press conference...as long as he wins. But go back and listen to Wade's introductory press conference. Forget the venue (student union vs. Lawton Room), Wade came out like a bat out of hell saying exactly what he planned to do. Particularly, that they were going to be aggressive in everything they did. And they were. Unfortunately the overagression on the recruiting trail ended his career here. I remember thinking after boring Trent Johnson and just happy to be here Johnny Jones that it sounded like LSU had someone with a plan, vision and excitement to not just win, but win big.

Everyone has different personalities. And it appears McMahon is far more low key. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. Just different. He sounds like a guy that is probably a little bit overwhelmed right now. Which is understandable. But you have to admit the press conference did not instill a feeling of "we're going out there to kick arse!" It was more of a "I'm happy to be here....now can I get to work please?"

Sadly, that has played out over the last 1.5 years.

Despite what some on here may think, Wade was not a perfect coach. He had his coaching flaws (most notably his teams were always terrible imbalanced). But one thing you never could questions was his desire to win. And it wasn't a "let's just hope to get a few wins and see where it goes." It was more of a "Watch out MFer. We are about to start winning and winning big around here. So get on board or get out of the way!" Obviously, it didn't completely work out that way, but that was the mindset from day one. It instilled confidence. When you hear McMahon speak it's more of a "Well, we played hard. I thought we did some things well. Not quite sure why they didn't work. We'll have to try to figure it out."
