Dude went into a Herm Edwards house fire there.
He started as a true freshman.

He was awesome as a FR- he was regressing was the issue. Like you mentioned, it was the whole darn team though.

He was really good his freshman year when he had good skill players. They left and pretty much everything was on him his next 2 years.

Also, I don't think he ever had a true dedicated Quarterback coach outside that first year either coaching him

I would have rather had nuss driving the buss with zero losses than daniels and 3 losses. Stats are nice but I only care about rings not moral victories

He had as many INTs as TDs his soph year. Its not a mystery. He was far from amazing last year.

He had very poor mechanics when he got here. He threw the ball poorly in his first spring here as they rebuilt his motion. He wasn't comfortable with several throws last year.
It just amazes me the work he put in to improve his game
in every aspect. You just don't see QB's improve that much over such a short period of time.

During Daniels
8-4
2-2
8-5

After Daniels
3-9
3-9

LSU before Daniels
5-5
6-7

LSU during Daniels
10-4
9-3 maybe 10-3 if he plays bowl

LSU after Daniels

Because they don't actually watch football or know the stats. He was great his freshman year. Second year was a Covid year. He didn't have much to work with the latter years there, either. He came in needing to build his confidence back up, similar to Joe.

Year 2 was covid and I believe he lost his grandmother. I always wondered why he dropped off but the loss explains it. He put in the work this past off season and from game 3 on it showed.....

Look at who his head coach was.

If Nuss struggles because of the defense next year will you say he sucks or blame the team? The constant excuses and retconning of JD is a glaring double standard and has been since he came here. It's also disrespectful to his improvement and the coaches who aided it.

I thought one big reason was JD was not an effective down field passer.

I believe his coaching at ASU was not very good. Herm seems like a fairly likeable guy, but he hasn’t really proven himself to be a successful head coach. Also, JD’s position coaches at ASU were subpar.
