That’s at ND, most years at LSU, he can simply recruit defensive talent in Louisiana and still field a top 25 defense. I think that was another reason he came to LSU, he knew it was a helluva lot easier to recruit elite talent here.


At the same time, you have to compete against the best talent in the country. He’s put two really good offensive teams together back to back, now keep that going and get the defense back to LSU standards and he’ll be in the playoffs.


First thing I’d do is take those tough first games off of the schedule until you have this thing rolling and can field an elite offense, defense and special teams. We can’t forget about special teams. It makes a huge impact on games, especially the big ones.

I’m not sure I’d ever schedule a top 25 team to play us with the schedule we going to have from here on. Not until all the other teams start doing the same thing. What they do is penalize teams that schedule those games. It’s rewarded to schedule McNeese State and beat them 70-0.
