I don't know if they have the organizational ability to fix their problems. The individual properties might have to be sold off to be rescued by a functional entertainment group.

Are there any? Functional in the sense of committed to making good material and possessing the financial power to buy whatever isn't ruined beyond repair?

Don’t worry. Iger will fix this by centering a new Marvel movie around Leslie Jones.

Without better transparency, it is difficult to even do broad stroke estimates.

What I am confident of, is they've lost at least $750m on films released in 2023. And if it really is approaching 2x that, I won't be all that surprised.

The UK tax credits probably complicate the math some, as well as sneaky cost shifting, Disney paying itself for things, on the books for tax purposes, etc. Again, I'm confident it is at least $750m though, in real world money.

Seems like 2024 shouldn’t be any different as I just saw a trailer for a woman spider man coming out next year

And they are in a big lawsuit over the use of stolen MOVA technology that was used in multiple Avengers movies and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. If they are disgorged of some of those huge profits, the losses can really start to add up. Don't forget the bomb that is Snow White that is right around the corner too. Hollywood Reporter

It will only get worse. The parks have remained pretty strong through all of this, but Disney leverages their IP to their parks. Anybody give a shite about a Marvels, Elemental, or Wish ride?

They've gotta pivot to what worked in the past, ie. Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2, but I'm not taking my kids to see that shite. I'll wait until it hits streaming.

You would think that would lead to a shareholder revolt.

Apparently Disney may also have some issues with how they reported their Reedy Creek financials. The noose could be tightening on Iger.
