First time I tried out for baseball, age 9, I got cut. That was before pay , play and get a trophy days.

My mom saw the coach at church and he
told her I would pick up a dirt clod and when I caught a ground ball I would throw the clod to first base. He said I did this every day and he thought I needed to wait until next season to try out again.
