With this logic applied to the current state of affairs, BAMA gets a bye. FSU doesn’t even though FSU has a better record.
FSU wins in Round 1 and plays BAMA in Round 2. BAMA beats FSU. FSU claims that had they gotten the bye, they would have beaten BAMA because x,y & z would have helped them.
Same dog, different fleas. Nothing solved.
Besides NCAA isn’t NFL etc…. But, March Madness is and seems to work just fine.

Why are you assuming fsu wouldve been seeded the same in a 12 team playoff? Id argue they wouldve been seeded 3. Alot easier for the committee to do the right thing when both teams get in
