It’s common knowledge that in college sports whose rankings reflect a team’s trajectory verses body of work rely more heavily on your last performance. If, one is truly interested in the very best playoff matchups this is an entirely correct way to rank them as well.

Let’s face it, the Florida State team can be accurately described as a Jekyll and Hyde team. Dr. Jekyll went 10-0. Mr. Hyde 3-0.

Yesterday Mr. Hyde turned in absolutely the most underwhelming performance of a Power-5 conference champion this year.

Yesterday Florida State barely beat Louisville.so let’s take a look at their defensive stats. Maybe that will shed some light in why FSU’s offense struggled.

Louisville Defense
#24 vs points
#25 vs run
#109 vs pass

Hmm…. Not that impressive. But, wait didn’t Louisville have a tough schedule. Maybe that’s why their defense isn’t tops.

Nope… Louisville’s SOS is #29.

But, for the teams invited, here’s their SOS:
Alabama #2
Michigan #4
Texas #5
Washington #8

IMHO we as fans deserve the most competitive games. As such, a teams current state of affairs should certainly be taken into account when deciding who plays.
