I can't imagine that players from top teams will continue to opt out early or even before a major bowl game with an expanded playoff.
We are also on the clock for the first "a 12 team playoff is bad for the players because there are more chances for them to get hurt and ruin their pro careers" articles...

12 teams is stupid. Top 4 get bye's...so the best 4 get a week to rest, avoid injury to play, a Penn St or a Missouri. Thats going to be real fun.
Should have been 8

Honestly, think it’s one of the biggest factors in expansion. If the natty is within reach, players will play.

My point about conference championship games will be the bigger issue. Why play them if it can bounce out a team on the back half of the top 10?

Twelve is too damn many. A bunch of participation blowouts will happen in the first round. 6-8 would’ve been just fine

Should be 16 teams. 8, 4, 2, National Championship.
