Franchise changing draft pick in the 2nd round. Imagine this team without Herb.. we’d be in trouble

If he finishes his career here I think he could go down as the goat pelican.

I’ve said this a couple times. If you have a child who loves basketball, buy some lower bowl tickets and tell him/her to focus on Herb when he is in the game. The stuff he does off the ball is an influential as the stuff he does when he is primary defender or has the ball. Herb Jones is the dictionary definition of high IQ basketball player.

It’s funny that we’re even having this discussion but it’s not like we have a stories history of great players so I definitely think he’s in the discussion.

If he stays out of foul trouble and plays considerable minutes, we typically win those games. We struggle when he picks up two quick fouls and has to sit.

Last night the Rockets were starting to chip away at the big lead and AD said this is where the team needed to learn to win and put teams away. And who stepped up and put the Rockets away? Not Zion or JV dominating the paint. Not CJ or Trey with their shooting. It was Herb Jones who imposed his will to win on the Houston Rockets as he stole the remaining life from them and crushed their hopes, literally.

I assume you mean the franchise’s greatest player(going back to the arrival of the Hawnets). I love Herb, but I’m not sure I’m ready to make that pronouncement. If you’re talking about his game, I’d have to say that CP3 at his peak was pretty amazing.

Let’s give Herb another season, and he may be the greatest.

Remember when he sophomore slumped hard to start the season last year and most posters were indifferent to trading him? Hopefully this teaches us to have a little patience.

Great point. And even at the end of last season many posters had him in every potential track package and some even complained his contract. One of the hardest things to find in the NBA is elite role player with room expand their game. Herb is that and more.

Definitely the best contract value on the team.

Currently the 130th highest paid player in the NBA lol. If I’m him I’m firing my agent lol. Unbelievable

Also, he’s only playing 28 minutes per game. At this point with his 3 point percentage, he needs to be playing another 6-7 minutes per game

in terms of all-around game, he certainly on his way to becoming that...

he was already known for his hustle and defensive capability, but his basketball IQ and his improved shooting have come along so much, that he is, by far, the best all-around player we have.... the only thing he has to be better at, now, is being more consistent with his offensive output... he still has games where he absolutely disappears and is a non-factor on the offensive side of the ball... that and cutting down on his fouls, as there are games where he gets in early foul trouble, forcing him to alter his aggression on the defensive end and cuts into his minutes

If you're him, you're out of the league right now because you care about the wrong things. Not intended to be a personal attack, but Herb is who he is because he's built different. He wasn't looking to maximize his earnings, the Pels offered him $53 million and that was more than enough for a man who's idea of a vacation is to go down to the local fishing hole.

I suspect he'll walk away from his NBA career with more money remaining than most players that made 3 times what he will have earned.

Franchise changing draft pick

ehh, i wouldn't say all that, but it was definitely a great pick, and in terms of value and where he was selected in the draft, he may be the best pick we've ever made

They gave him the maximum amount they could possibly give him and did it before he broke out as a shooter. It was a win/win situation and it paid off very quickly. Both sides did their jobs.
