I hunted Kansas last year and shot a beautiful eastern. Thought I read they were going to cancel their season because of population decline

The decline is real. I had a place in Nebraska where it wasn’t uncommon to see flocks of 150-300 birds in the Spring. My Lord; it was amazing to hear and see. This wasn’t that long ago. Perhaps 2016. I remember filling all my tags in less than a single day.

Today; the same Outfitter only books one bird hunts over 3 days. Still has 20-25% of hunters going home empty handed.

Same story in Kansas. Filling 2 tags used to be a Slam Dunk. Not so much nowadays.

He thinks it’s the coated seeds used by local farmers. He thinks the turkeys are eating the seeds and the poisons used in the coatings are effecting the reproduction.
