Give me 16 teams.

All conference champions get a home game in the first round except for the lowest ranked conference champion (assuming next year that the PAC 12/Mountain West merger happens so there’s only 9 total conferences). That way, your champs all get home games, and your at-larges have to travel. While I doubt the G5 teams would realistically have a chance, it would be great exposure for their schools to get playoff games on their campus.

Georgia hosts Liberty
Michigan hosts Ole Miss
Florida St hosts Penn St
Okie St hosts Oregon
Tulane hosts Texas
Toledo hosts Ohio St
UNLV hosts Washington
Troy hosts Alabama

These schools have zero business hosting a playoff game. Most of those first round games would be complete garbage
