WMGGW is one of my favorite George songs, but in terms of greatness it is knocked down a few pegs since what makes it so awesome was Clapton's guitar playing. Had George played on it I would rank it much higher than I do. Clapton killed that solo though. But by all accounts that's the kind of person George was...he didn't care about limelight and accolades and cared more about his buddies and thought it would be cool if Clapton played on one of their songs.

But the post I responded to was about his songwriting. I don’t think who played the guitar solo changes a single thing about the greatness of the song.

Sure, same here.

What it does do for me though is view it a bit differently when comparing George to L/M and holding it up to the standards of other songs (even his others). IMO it takes away from George a little that the best thing about the song (IMO) isn’t something he contributed really and was from someone outside the band.

I love Weeps and am not knocking the song itself.
