once you get past "dark horse" (and even before), a listen through george's solo catalog is a difficult ask. banal repetitive lyrics, tired melodies and a general paint by numbers vibe

Eh. Not for me.
I just have never been a huge fan of his contributions to the group or his solo stuff as a whole. Like I said, there are some songs of his that I do really like a lot. It’s just more that for me I prefer his counterparts for the most part when comparing.
There’s a handful of George songs that I absolutely love.
