Is the British usage of referring to Sgt Pepper in the possessive taking hold in America?
You mean the correct name?

It used to be everybody I tUS said Pepper. When I saw the 20th anniv doc I noticed the UK interviewees invariably said Pepper's.

Now w/the net breaking down communication borders, Americans often adapt UK usage very quickly (as w/"spot on" -- unknown in tUS when I was @LSU)

I'll be a Pepper til I die

Listen to “This Boy” on the recording, then find a good live version and see how good the harmonies still are. All things considered, they were at their core a tight little rock and roll band. The genius comes in with the several reinventions and directions, and their social and artistic impact on the world - all in less than a decade.

I love the bridge on This Boy. They managed to make a crooner type early 60s song super urgent.

That's what Paul always said. The sheer level of live practice they had was insane - and ironic given how little they toured once huge.

Again, Ed Sullivan was February 1964. NOBODY could have predicted that in less than 4 years, we'd have the likes of Yesterday, Tomorrow Never Knows, In My Life and Within You, Without You.

Agree. Also find a live performance of Nowhere Man and check the harmonies starting the song acapella.

And George had the hardest parts in these 3 part harmonies. Pretty crazy.

Agree with the harmonies on This Boy.

Absolutely fantastic.

There's a bootleg recording (I have) of them doing this in France during a rehearsal and it's unbelievable. Before they start, John is kind of directing them on what to do. He tells Ringo to slow it down a bit more.

Hard to believe that just 10 years later, Sgt Pepper's was released. Equally hard to believe how much great material was AFTER that.

I listened to Penny Lane while on Penny Lane. Cheesy, but I still smile thinking about it.

Of course I also went to St. John’s Wood to hit up the crosswalk on Abbey Road too.

The Beatles were awesome.

“Lovely Rita” may be the GOAT song

Interesting. I like it, but it's not much on my radar.

Lately, I'm getting super into the older catalogue - particularly tracks I just never paid any attention to at all.

If I Fell
Little Child
There' a Place (I LOVE this one)

Try ‘Tell Me Why’ from the Hard Days Night soundtrack. It is pure Beatles yet was never performed live.

Yeah, greatness. I actually just watched the movie for the first time earlier this week, so I'm on a bit of a Hard Day's Night Bender right now.
