The athletic department has plenty of cash to take care of staff buyouts. SW has this authority. I suspect he runs this by Tate and LSU CFO but that is just rubber stamped approval. Firing Kelly would require some real meetings. Getting rid of football assistant coaches w/ buyouts of about $2-3M max doesn't even create a ripple on LSU football's financials. Check out LSU's take of new TV deal. Other than COVID LSU football normally generates over 50M of profit per annum.
