drive a mid 2000s pickup with headlights that are pretty scuffed, although maybe not as bad as some on cars from the 80s/90s, and I still only ever use my brights if I'm home and am trying to see if there's deer in our yard. How bad are these peoples' eyesight to need constant brightness?

That's what I am saying. My truck is a 2006, my headlights are faded as well, yet still aimed properly away from oncoming traffic. I replaced my tail lights recently because they were also faded and I want to be very visible to other drivers for my safety.
It's been much more noticeable in recent years with bright arse lights everywhere. Need some sort of regulation on manufacturers to have some max level of brightness on regular lights.
