I can confirm that the Ford’s sensor covers are frequently broken/faded.

But if it’s a Ford Transit Van, Mercedes Sprinter Van or Chevy Express Van it’s often the opposite. The headlights are always on because there are piles of papers and garbage on the dash at the base of the windshield, covering the light sensor in a sea of perpetual darkness. That applies to some work trucks too.
