I drilled four one inch holes about two or three inches from the bottom equally spaced, so the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock position. I fabricated some metal flaps that just twist down covering the hole partial or fully. The smoke stack also has a flap I can use to choke it down as well. Once rolling I generally keep two bottom holes wide open, two fully closed and the stack vent about half closed.

If you look real close in the picture with the rack resting on the rim look at the bottom left by the end of the pig tail hook and you can see one of the flaps.
