We host a dozen or so adults every year, mix of family and neighbor friends, so we have many different sides that we make for everyone. However, my personal must haves are oyster dressing and green bean casserole. I smoke those along with turkey thighs and drums. I've always made the dressing with cornbread but this year decided to go with bread instead and it was a nice change.
My wife bakes a medium size breast in the oven and handles the rest of the sides and desserts.
Although this isn't a side, one of our friends that attends our Thanksgiving dinner grew horseradish and brought me a jar of his ground horseradish yesterday. I put some on a piece of turkey and was surprised at how well it paired. So fresh ground horseradish will now be a condiment on the Thanksgiving table.
