That's not really the mindset of most D1 football head coaches in their 40s.

In my last post, I named three CC Board favorites in their 40s who did exactly that. Even Fickell hung around Cincy for 6 years when he didn't have to.

Fisch would be a homerun at A&M. They could get him relatively cheap too.

I don't see a&m even sniffing day or deboer.

I could see them easily pulling Fisch though.

The more clips I'm watching of him I really like his approach and believe he would get them on the path they want

This. Why would Ryan Day leave OSU, a school where he's consistently in the conversation for Big Ten titles and natties, go to aTm? Even if Day loses to Michigan this weekend, there's no way OSU would fire him. Now, if the rumors of him being involved in this cheating scandal are true, then he'll be gone.

I really think it's Elko. He's recruited well for aTm in the past, and they want to keep their last two recruiting classes together to have a shot at being a top team in the SEC next year

Why would Fisch be a home run? Real question, but what has he done that is so impressive? This has been his first good year at Arizona. He just does not seem that impressive to me.

He had to build AZ from scratch. There was nothing when he got there.

So Billy didn't shoot down Ryan Day in his morning segment? I heard him say he's going to have a write up later today.

Day and Deboer are just smoke screens, imo.
Fisch could be a candidate as I’ve heard that name previously.

Elko would be a great choice, but his posture is that he and his family prefer to stay in NC. Make him say no, but plan to talk with others as well.

Fisch beating the hell out of Utah is interesting because that takes physicality more than finesse.

May have missed something earlier, but he just said there's some smoke with Day but he doesn't think there's real traction. But he'd be curious if anything takes off if they lose to Michigan.

Cliffs from Billy on radio this morning

-Know the goal is to narrow down and have their 2-3 names. Coaches have been vetted. We're going after these couple of guys.

-From talking to sources around the country the expectation is it's 3 finalists now.

-Kalen DeBoer he thinks is still a candidate. He's not leaving a job unfinished and will not allow himself to be distracted while at Washington.

-Dan Lanning and Dan Campbell were neither never in the running like Billy said in the beginning.

-Doesn't believe DeBoer will engage himself but through agents.

-Don't take Ryan Day off the list but very skeptical of that. Likes Elko. Things Day is his agent trying to work things up.

-See what happens if Day loses to Michigan and how the heat turns up.

-Billy mentions a name but won't say who. Then comes back to Luke Fickell. Would've called to kick the tires on him.

-Matt Rhule and Fickell could've been names even though they've only been at their schools for one year.

Day and Deboer go against the statement from the AD

quote:

“We have to get this contract right," Bjork said. “We can’t do what we did before... We’re not giving bonuses to go to the Liberty Bowl. The CFP, the first round, the quarterfinals, the semifinals, you host, you win the national championship. If you win the national championship, you’ll get paid like a national championship coach. That’s how we’re putting this package together."

Neither is leaving their current gig for less than a Jimbo deal

It’s a good win, but Utah is beat to shite this year. They have injuries all over and didn’t have Rising for most of the season. Just seems like they ran out of gas and Wittingham out of smoke and mirrors and duct tape to cover up their problems after mid-season.

This certainly isn’t meant to diminish what Fisch has done at Arizona, though. He and Elko have both accomplished very impressive rebuilds in a short time.

It has to be Elko ... DeBoer is using us for a raise, and Day is absolutely a pipe dream. There is one name he won't talk about at all.

I like you're thinking about the name not being crossed off is Kiffin. He could wrap the Egg Bowl game up and be on his way.
