My experience with HDL, LDL and Triglycerides also involve having a stent at 52. Mostly genetics but total cholesterol was normal; LDL (bad) was borderline high. HDL (good) was borderline low and Triglycerides were in the midrange. These are reported on a lipid profile and also calculated as cardiac ratio/index, a ratio between the three. This is the number we chose to focus on, mine was 5.2. Normal is about 5 to 3. Crestor 10mg to help lower LDL and get a bump up on the HDL. Exercising will also push HDL up. Zetia 10mg (works in the gut) to lower LDL. Changed my diet (less booze) to take Triglycerides down. I’m 66 now cardiac ratio stays around 2.5 and am very active. Lost my Dad and a brother in their early 50’s to heart attacks. Don’t smoke either. It can be done and there are different ways to it but it takes the commitment between you and your medical provider.
