Not sure why 15% became 18% and then 20%+. It’s also expected before service more which makes no sense. You get tipped for work performed. If you don’t perform you don’t get tipped.

Double the tax mentality. Sales tax is close to 10% now.

Did you know that originally, tipping was done in advance? It morphed over time.
