How is this US vs UK barfight getting me more patriotic than the actual dogfights?

I haven’t watched it yet (plan to this weekend) but I saw a sneak peak that had something in there that left me a little confused. Apparently one of the pilots was flying a mission with the 389th BG in May of 1943. The 389th was a B-24 group and wasn’t in England in May of ‘43. So this seems like a historical inaccuracy.

But like I said, I haven’t watched it yet. So maybe it’s explained.

Getting through episode 2. About halfway through. Enjoyed episode 1 and what I've seen of 2 so far.

I didn't expect to see this episode's nod to the others that made the whole thing work besides those in the plane - ground crews, repairmen, intelligence officers, ordinance crews etc. I appreciate that aspect as it was something I wasn’t even considering.

Also had no idea they used flare guns to signal each other mid flight
