He obviously doesn't think it's meaningless. He used time during a presidential debate to ask the current chair to resign. If it was meaningless, would it matter if she resigned?

Further, I think he likes to have a CEO/executive type role and might see the chair as an opportunity to make an impact on the messaging, etc. of the GOP.

I think he would still do a bunch of interviews he has been doing but with the title of RNC chair.

He could be the first "celebrity" chair meaning he would be more influential than any others before him.

If he is thinking this way, he would definitely take the position with an intention of doing things very differently than his predecessors.

That said, I'm not sure he'd actually be picked although I could see the value in him at that role given how he uses both traditional and social media.
