planning a road trip early april 2024 starting & ending in providence RI where my daughter lives. Burlington will get the solar eclipse on 4/8 in the afternoon.
the trip will start sun 4/7 and can end any time really. 2 nites in each place would be a week but we can go longer.
if anyone has been to one or more of these places and can offer ideas for stuff to see & do, and places to eat/drink i'd appreciate it, particularly in VT & upstate NY.

Head to Stowe, VT while you’re in Burlington if you can fit it in. Beautiful little town. The Alchemist brewery is close by and highly suggest visiting. Only about a 30 minute drive from Burlington.
Would also suggest checking out the other local breweries in Burlington. Lots of good options.

Any particular reason for Woodstock, NY?
Will you have a travel companion? If so, look into The Roxbury Motel in the Catskills. It's a bit wild, for sure. The town seemed perfectly quaint. Cooperstown is about an hour away, and I recommend Ommegang Brewery as a place to eat and drink.
Another place to check out is Saratoga Springs, even though it will be the off-season. Plenty of places to stay, eat, and drink there.

Providence, RI is one of my favorite restaurant towns.
My favorite place in Burlington is Leunig’s Bistro on Church Street. The best poutine I had in that area including Montreal, but that’s just my opinion.
In Montreal we really liked Joe Beef and Restaurant Bonaparte.
We visited several places in Ithaca that we liked a lot.
We looked at Providence, Burlington, and Ithaca for places to spend our summers. We were looking for that sort of size city with an airport and colleges to make a home base for 4-5 months a year. Ended up going farther west, but we really like all of the places the OP is visiting.

I’m not sure how the weather is in Spring compared to the S. Appalachians, but there’s some great hiking in the area.
The Adirondacks are incredible, I’d recommend picking one from the Adirondack Loj Trailhead.
Stowe, VT is pretty close to Burlington and is a quintessential New England town. Camel’s Hump is a fun hike nearby, there would probably be a ton of people on the summit for the eclipse.
Tons of history up there as well. Saratoga, Ft. Ticonderoga, etc.

Quebec City > Montreal and it's not even closer unless you're into strippers. Montreal has some of the the best strip clubs in North America.
If you go to Woodstock then you need to stop by the Mohonk Mountain House.
Also, Cooperstown and the MLB Hall of Fame is 90 miles from there.
