Yes, a smart person makes sure to put in procedures to protect himself and others from powers being abused. Trump has never learned this. Trump left a loaded gun for Biden with no safety. Biden just had to point and shoot.
If Trump had added caveats to the funding for vaccines or any of the policies around the vax saying that it could never be mandated or required by the Federal government it would have been fine. All of the mandates were derived from the Feds requiring the jab from any company working with them. That way they could mandate it without "mandating" it.
It's kind of like how some people were screaming for him not to allow CARES funding to go to what would become unlimited unemployment benefits or vote by mail. He didn't want to hear it so he shut it down so he could get a "win".
Democrats are still laughing their asses off at him and people that don't understand this.

Nothing wrong with the Jab if given t HIGH RISK PEOPLE, the problem was idiot Gov. know it all tried to force it on the masses, which of course was stupid. Then a shot which helps 90 percent and hurts 5 percent or so is a travesty because no one under 45 needed it in general, so those 5 percent were hurt for no reason. But with the elderly who also need flu shots etc. the risk reward was worth taking. So, Trump, as always is right.

The majority of older republicans I knew were enthusiastic to receive the jab for at least the first round. The media and government agencies had hyped Covid and had folks scared. Time has caused many folks to forget this.
